Many years ago on a cold and wet Monday morning before Thanksgiving I went into my favorite natural health clinic to see my favorite Chiropractor, Dr. Athena Paradise.
My low back injury sustained from the last car accident had flared up suddenly and felt like hundreds of tiny needles were having a dance party up and down my lumbar spine.
As I entered the reception area, I noticed a wall of different colored heart shaped papers folded and pinned up in a beautiful display of art.
After greeting me, the sweet front desk person handed me a blank heart-shaped piece of paper and pencil.
In honor of Thanksgiving, she invited me to join the clinic’s “Wall of Gratitude” by writing down what I was grateful for and pinning it to the wall next to the dozens of other pieces of paper.
And even though I was in pain, this one small act made me feel so included, so honored to have been asked to join in with the rest of the clinic’s family of patients, doctors, practitioners and staff.
I felt so at home with people who cared.
The point of my note to you today?
Sometimes it is one decorative act of creativity in your healthcare clinic or healing space that can make someone feel so nurtured and special.
You can do this around a theme, like Thanksgiving and create your own wall or area of gratitude.
Today, I want to thank you for being part of my tribe.
As I heard Oprah say recently during an interview with Brené Brown, “Surround yourself with people who are rooting for your rise.”
She said it twice and I was happy she did.
As a patient, I know you are rooting for my rise (and the rise of your patients) to living a life of good health and well-being.
As a healthcare interior designer and a human being who believes in you, I am rooting for your rise.
Your rise to your greatness in all that you do for yourself and those around you.
Blessings and Love to you and yours on this Thanksgiving,
